NEOM

Red Sea Island, Saudi Arabia 2019

NEOM is an ambitious sustainable megalopolis project in the Saudi desert, announced in 2017 by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. NEOM aims to become a model for the city of the future, characterised by legal autonomy, technological innovation and environmental sustainability. It will extend along the Red Sea coast and be divided into several regions. Four main components have already been outlined:

The Line: A linear city 170 km long, this facility will be car-free and equipped with all essential services within five minutes walk away, with reflective buildings that will create a unique visual effect.
Oxagon: A floating octagon-shaped industrial complex, destined to become a HUB for industrial production and research.
Trojena: A winter sports destination, which will host the 2029 Asian Winter Games, with ski lifts and recreational activities.
Sindala: An artificial island designed for tourism, with hotels and harbours, which will open in 2024, offering unique experiences linked to coral reefs.

PUK has designed “futuristic” lighting for this context, an evolution of the light concept, combining design, advanced technologies and a cutting-edge approach.

This project uses the latest technological innovations, such as energy-efficient LEDs, intelligent control systems and integration with home automation. These technologies allow greater control over light, allowing unique atmospheres to be created and energy saved.

A fascinating fusion of design, technology and avant-garde, will offer a new perspective on light and its ability to transform spaces and emotions.
