Lusail, Qatar 2021
The new attraction in Qatar is represented by the Katara Towers, iconic towers that form two crossed scimitars (traditional swords of this Middle Eastern region) and have forever changed the skyline of Lusail. The bold international project completed in 2022 is an architectural marvel that houses the Lusail Katara hotel in the Lusail Marina district. With an area of over 48,000 square meters and a height of 36 stories, the Lusail Katara hotel now hosts two of the world’s most prestigious hotel chains, Raffles and Fairmont.
In detail, each of the Katara Towers measures 300,000 square meters. To the left stands the Raffles, featuring only suites, a rooftop bar, and a private cinema. To the right is the Fairmont, with 362 luxury rooms, an outdoor private pool, and a spectacular view of the Persian Gulf. The Fairmont’s lobby features a wall adorned with 18-carat gold and the world’s largest chandelier, standing at 56 meters in height.
Inside the structure, you’ll also find apartments, offices, commercial shops, and restaurants.
Due to its grandeur and the uniqueness of its curvilinear design, the building is the first hospitality project in Qatar to be certified with a GSAS Design & Build 5 Stars evaluation, a recognition that certifies its excellence in sustainability and demonstrates Qatar’s commitment to reducing its energy footprint for the future.
The exterior artificial lighting, designed by PUK Lighting, has been carefully crafted to accentuate the architectural structure and highlight its curvilinear form, even at sunset.
