Qatar Foundation Headquarter

Doha, Qatar 2018

The Qatar Foundation is responsible for promoting, researching and developing the community in the region. To capture the unique identity and authority of the new headquarters, OMA architects designed the shape of a generic cube: the simplicity of the cube contrasts sharply with the irregular-shaped buildings that prevail in Doha and, in general, in Qatar.

The cube-shaped building, with an area of over 29,000 square meters and a height of 57 meters, consists of two overlapping volumes separated by a terrace; inside it is possible to find 3 main areas: The Executive Tower, the Staff Tower and the Her Royal Highness’ wing, where Sheikha Moza bint Nasser – president of the Qatar Foundation – and all her support team have special spaces.

The power of PUK outdoor lighting products used in the project plays a key role in enhancing the distinctive architecture of the building. Highlighting the clean lines and rigorous geometry of the cube, at night the carefully calibrated lighting transforms the building into a beacon of modernity and innovation, underlining the Qatar Foundation’s commitment to excellence and progress. Thanks to PUK, the entire structure not only shines with an iconic light, but also conveys a sense of authority and prestige.
