Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam – 2017
Located in the “Pearl of the Far East” (Ho Chi Minh City), the People’s Committee Building, also known as Ho Chi Minh City Hall, was built in 1898 as the seat of Saigon City Council and today is used mainly to host conferences of leaders from inside and outside the borders of Vietnam.
Thanks to its white and yellow pastel colour, as well as its colossal dimensions, Ho Chi Minh City can be easily identified from afar; the architecture – a clear reference to the French Renaissance style – emphasizes laziness and elegance. This is the reason for the strongly inclined roofs, towers and arched entrances.
During a recent maintenance and restoration, the building was chosen to be further enhanced with a range of PUK outdoor lighting products that enhance the architectural style and give the building a special atmosphere after sunset. PUK lighting solutions, with their precision and innovation, were strategically positioned to accentuate the French Renaissance details of the building. The night lighting highlights the sloping roofs, towers and arches of the entrances, creating a play of light and shadow that enhances the elegance and majesty of Ho Chi Minh City. This intervention not only improves the visibility and security of the surrounding area, but also transforms the building into a focal point of the city, attracting residents and tourists who can admire its historic beauty in a new light.
